Learn the foundations of flamenco footwork, arm coordination, and ‘floreo’ hand movements.

Advanced Beginners

Tuesdays 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM

The next level after the Beginners class. This class requires previous experience with flamenco as we go at a faster pace and learn more complex routines and techniques.

  • What is Flamenco dance?

Flamenco is a passionate and expressive Spanish art form that includes singing (cante), guitar playing (toque), dancing (baile), and rhythmic handclaps (palmas). Flamenco, a rich and profound art form, draws influences from various cultural, historical, and artistic elements, such as Andalusian culture, Gypsy, Moorish, and Jewish heritage.

  • Do I need any prior dance experience to join the class?

No prior dance experience is required! I currently teach a beginner’s and an advanced beginner’s group class. I also offer private lessons to all levels.

  • What should I wear to a Flamenco dance class?

Participants typically wear flamenco shoes or sturdy heels, a flamenco skirt, comfortable clothing allowing movement, and flamenco boots for men.

  • Should I buy Flamenco shoes?

Investing in Flamenco shoes is essential for everyone interested. Buy them only if you're dedicated to taking classes. Initially, closed-toe shoes like dress shoes, sturdy-heeled boots, or character shoes are suitable. Avoid stilettos and sneakers. Reach out for help via call or email.

  • Are there age restrictions for joining the class?

No, classes are open to all ages, though certain sessions may be tailored specifically for children or adults.

  • How often are the classes held?

 Classes are currently held once a week. Private and semi-private classes are also available

  • What can I expect to learn in a Flamenco dance class?

 Students will learn fundamental footwork (zapateado), arm movements, body posture, rhythm, and the emotional expression unique to Flamenco.

  • Can I perform in showcases or events after attending classes?

 Yes! I encourage my students to participate in showcases and events once they feel confident in their skills.

  • Are private lessons available?

Yes, private and semi-private classes are available for those seeking more personalized instruction or focused training.
